Position Summary
Thichum Forest Products is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to lead
and oversee the organization’s forestry operations and leadership team. Reporting to the
Vice President – Forestry, the General Manager will provide direction, accountability, and
operational oversight across the company. This role is responsible for leading key
managers and ensuring alignment between operational performance, financial objectives,
safety standards, stewardship values, and long-term business strategy.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader with proven forestry management
experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster a high-performing and
collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and support the organization’s key management team across their
operational pillars:
o Planning
o Operations
o Post-Harvest
o Fibre Supply
• Provide overall operational oversight, accountability, and strategic direction
• Ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable forestry operations across all business units
• Support annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational
reporting
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with First Nations, contractors,
government agencies, customers, and industry partners
• Drive organizational performance through leadership, accountability, and
continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards
• Support the implementation of Thichum’s long-term strategic and QBL objectives
• Collaborate with ownership and leadership teams on growth opportunities,
partnerships, and operational initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
• Extensive experience in forestry operations, woodlands management, or natural
resource leadership
• Proven experience managing senior operational teams and multiple departments
• Strong understanding of coastal forestry operations and fibre management
• Experience with budgeting, operational planning, and business management
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to build strong relationships with Indigenous communities, government, and
industry stakeholders
• Professional forestry designation or related education is considered an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
