qwoqwnes Sort & Supply LP (QSS) is looking for a safety-focused team member to lead the ongoing operations at our two dry land sort facilities. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Thichum Forest Products, the Dryland Sort  and Quality Control Manager will be a key team member responsible for driving operational performance, strengthening customer relationships, and leading a unified, high-performing team.

The Dryland Sort and Quality Control Manager will be a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground leader who models full commitment, accountability, and teamwork. Dryland Sort and Quality Control Manager Will Be Responsible For
Safety & Compliance Leadership

·       Lead all safety initiatives and foster a strong safety culture

·       Ensure compliance with WCB, Transport Canada, environmental management regulations, scaling regulations, and all regulatory requirements

·       Conduct and oversee investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements

·       Manage environmental compliance and reporting

Operations & Production Management

·       Manage two dry land sort facilities and be responsible for their overall performance

·       Set, track, and report on production targets

·       Oversee log flow processes, capacity planning and support supply chain coordination

·       Assist with quality control through active operational feedback

·       Monitor and improve equipment uptime

·       Ensure proactive equipment management and maintenance scheduling

·       Support budgeting, purchasing, and capital investment decisions

·       Maintain marketplace awareness and fibre supply knowledge

Financial & Strategic Leadership

·       Support the development and manage to operational budgets

·       Negotiate service and supply agreements

·       Support capital planning and long-term operational strategy

·       Track performance metrics and report to senior leadership

Team & Customer Management

·       Manage 10-18 employees and associated service providers in a unionized environment

·       Ensure compliance and standards are met and administer employee management as detailed in the United Steelworkers 1-1937 Collective Agreement with Western Forest Products

·       Build a collaborative, accountable team atmosphere

·       Maintain strong communication with crews, customers, and service providers

·       Provide coaching, mentorship, and clear performance expectations

·       Represent QSS professionally within the coastal forestry community

What You Bring
Required Qualifications

·       5+ years of forest industry experience

·       Experience supervising or working in similar log sort or related operations

·       Experience in quality control with log grades and sorts

·       Strong background in industrial safety and investigations

·       Understanding of log flow and supply chain processes

·       Proven ability to manage changing priorities and solve complex problems

·       Strong communication and leadership skills

·       Highly organized and detail-oriented

·       Proficiency with operational systems and technology (Microsoft excel, word etc.)

Assets, not Required but Preferred

·       RPF or RFT designation

·       Coastal scaling license

·       Previous heavy equipment operating experience

·       Strong marketplace and fibre supply knowledge

·       Knowledge of Crown land harvesting regulations and coastal forestry operations
