THE TLA DONOR FUND

The TLA would like to express its sincere gratitude to all the donors and bidders at the 2012 TLA Live and Silent Auctions. We raised over $80,000 for the TLA Donor Fund and all the proceeds go to supporting our training and education programs.

Where does the money go?

The TLA Forest Education Donor Dollars Support Worthwhile Programs With files from Saundra Tice

The Donor Program at the TLA is about an investment made on behalf of TLA members, employees, shareholders, and families – to teachers, students and communities. Providing opportunities to stay on the coast is one of the highest priorities identified by local, regional and aboriginal governments. The TLA recognizes this priority and is working with other organizations to fulfill the need for coordinated resource education, training and transitioning so that there will be an industry in the long term.

Forestry will be a driver for our provincial economy for a long time. Our members’ contributions to the Donor Fund go a long way to help deliver positive messages and programs.

Every dollar goes straight into funding the educational programs and scholarships that aim to put competent new workers right where they need to be…in the woods. As well, the funds help increase awareness of the industry to the public, through sponsorship of specific events and sites such as the Duncan Discovery Centre and Evans Lake Forestry Camps; or for the annual teachers’ tours known as the “Festival of Forestry.” These programs provide an interactive learning experience to understanding of the complexities of sustainable forest management issues, and provide people with relevant information about the forestry industry.
