WHO WE ARE.

The Truck Loggers Association is an influential voice in the forest industry on behalf of its 500 member companies across BC. Celebrating 75 years of advocacy, the TLA was formed to give independent loggers a collective voice in the changes taking place in society and the forest industry, as well as to share information about newly developing logging machines, methods, and technology. The TLA now represents independent timber harvesting contractors, phase contractors, market loggers, independent sawmills, industry suppliers and forest resource dependent communities.

"Since 2018, provincial allowable annual cuts (AAC) have been mostly declining as the province grapples with the significant loss of timber in the BC Interior caused by the mountain pine beetle (MPB) infestation, wildfires and other natural phenomenon, along with significant changes in public perspectives on the value of the forests that the industry relies upon. This raises the question of whether replaceable contract holders should expect compensation for loss of work from the government as a result?"

Vaughn Palmer: Unions report on NDP failings in response to forestry crisis

The NDP government response to the continuing crisis in the B.C. forest sector has been “inadequate,” “scatter gun” and “delivered with little attention to the need for an overall strategy to sustain the industry.”
So said a trio of forest sector unions in a report released this week that Premier David Eby himself acknowledged as a wake-up call for the NDP in an election year.
The report, A Better Future for B.C. Forestry, details a crisis across the B.C. industry including harvesting, pulp and paper, and manufacturing.
